At All Souls we are committed to helping you through one of life’s most difficult times.
The Church of England has been helping people to mark the end of a loved one's life for generations.
A Church of England funeral is available to everyone, giving support before, during and after the service, for as long as it’s needed.
Your loved one's funeral can be taken by the Vicar in the parish church if they, or you, live in the parish, or if there is a natural pastoral connection - for example, that they worshipped or were married here.
If you are arranging a funeral, and would like it to take place at our church, or you would like the Vicar to officiate (at the cemetery, crematorium or green burial site), please make that clear to the funeral directors. They will then contact the Vicar to make arrangements.
Shortly after these arrangements have been made the Vicar will meet you to discuss the funeral service itself, to talk about the deceased, and to offer support and comfort to the bereaved.
The Vicar will be able to help with choosing hymns, music and readings. We do recommend that you have a chat with family & friends about what you might like prior to meeting the Vicar. Sometimes the deceased will have left instructions for their funeral in their will.
If you are thinking about your own funeral, and would like to make some arrangements before your death, please contact the Vicar to discuss arrangements.
Statutory & Parish Fees
The core fees for funerals are set by the Diocese as a Life Event and these are called statutory fees. The statutory fees are split into 2 categories, the portion that is paid by the Parish to the Diocese and the portion that goes to the Parish. Please note that the church itself does not directly receive any of the statutory fees.
